Issue 005
Trusting Him isn't giving up - it's finally letting go of what was never yours to carry.
A note from Amanda
I'm in the middle of something right now, I won't go into all the details, but I'll say this: it's a situation where what I see and what I feel don't match what I know God’s Word has promised. My circumstances haven't changed. My mind still wants to work it out, still wants to run the scenarios, still wants to doubt.
But this past week, I made a decision. I said, "Lord, I am going to consider this done. I'm not going to worry about how or when, it’s not mine to carry. You said it in Your Word and that's where I am going to stand."
Not because I've stopped caring or have it all figured out. But because I finally understood that my job was never to figure it out. My job is to trust.
That's what leads me back to Proverbs 3:5-6 this week.
This week's scripture
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths."
PROVERBS 3:5-6
This week's reflection
Here's a question I want to ask you, Is there something you are trying to trust God with right now?
Maybe it's a relationship that feels uncertain. A decision you can't seem to make. A difficult situation at work, in your family, in your finances. A health issue you're waiting on answers for, or healing that hasn't come as quickly as you hoped. Whatever it is, have you been turning it over and over in your head, trying to work out the how, being afraid of the outcome, or hoping the answer will finally come if you just keep praying enough?
Proverbs 3:5 doesn't say "figure it out with God's help." It says TRUST Him with ALL your heart. That's not a partnership where you do 80% of the heavy lifting and He handles the rest. No, it’s a full transfer. A full and total laying down of the thing you've been churning over.
"Lean not on your own understanding." Oh this one is a challenge, because leaning on my own understanding is my default mode. It's where I go first, my own logic, my own experience, my own anxiety-driven projections of what might happen next. And God is saying: this is not the most reliable thing to do.
He's not saying you're not smart enough. He's not saying your feelings don't matter. He's saying there's a bigger picture you can't see and He can. He sees the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10). He knows what's coming around the bend that you don't yet know. And He's asking you to trust Him.
Verse 6 is where it gets good: "In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." That word "direct" in Hebrew means to make straight, to smooth out. When we acknowledge Him, when we bring Him into the details, not just the big decisions, He begins to make the path clear. Not all at once. Sometimes just the next step. And sometimes you have to wait…and that means you have to TRUST.
So this week, whatever you are standing or trying to figure out in your head - stop - open your hands and say, "Lord, I don't understand this. I don’t understand why. But I'm choosing to trust You anyway."
And if you're standing on a promise right now the way I am - despite what you see, despite what you feel - consider it done.
Not because it feels done. Because He promised it. End of story.
Verses to stand on this week
Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths."
Isaiah 26:3 "You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You."
Psalm 37:5 "Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass."
Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."
SPEAK THIS ALOUD
I trust You, Lord, with all my heart. I let go of my need to figure it all out.
I will not lean on my own understanding, I lean on Yours. In every decision, every uncertainty, every moment I cannot see past, I acknowledge You.
I will not let what I see in the natural dictate what I believe. I choose to stand firmly on Your Word, no matter what things look like. You know the end from the beginning. You see what I cannot see. And I trust that You are making my path straight.
I walk forward in faith, not fear. I consider it done, not because I feel it, but because You said it. I know You've got this, and You've got me. Thank you.

Behind the song: This song has come out of exactly what I have written above. I have had moments of questioning, “Why is this not done yet?” But even in that questioning, I will fix my eyes on Him, I will not be moved. His Word is my truth and I will not look elsewhere. I will TRUST Him!
This week's step
ONE SMALL THING
This week, take 5 minutes every morning, before you check your phone, your email, or your to-do list. Open your hands, literally, palms up, and say out loud: "Lord, I trust You with today. I lean on Your understanding, not my own." If there's one specific thing that's been keeping you up at night, name it out loud. Then say, "I hand this to You." Do that every morning this week and notice what shifts.
Seek Him first in all things and let your life shine His glory.
