A note from Amanda
Fully persuaded…this is where I want to be all the time.
In a place that no matter what comes my way, instead of letting worry in, I know who my God is! I fully trust Him and I know that He has got my back, He is true to His promises and despite what circumstances are around me, I can trust Him… because I am fully persuaded of His faithfulness and His love for me.
Right now, I am standing on God's promises for a healing miracle, even when it hasn't happened in my time frame, even when I am frustrated because of the waiting, even when...I am learning to be - fully persuaded that it is done.
This week's scripture
Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.”
Romans 4: 20-22
This week's reflection
“He did not waver at the promise of God.”
How do we get to this place, not wavering…just being so persuaded that God is true to His Word and His promises.
Wavering doesn’t help us, in James 1:6 it says, “but let him ask in faith, without doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.”
When I read this verse about Abraham, it inspired me, but then as my friend highlighted, “yes, but he went off with Hagar, how is that being unwavering”. Hmmm good point.
Firstly, let me say that it shows that when you try to do things in your own strength, you can make a big mess of it, but when you fix your eyes on God and place your trust fully in Him, He will come through. It may not happen in the way you expect, but He will always be faithful.
Faith is not assuming that God will give us everything we desire; it’s becoming fully persuaded about what He has actually promised.
Now back to Abraham…this was very much Abraham and Sarah doing things their own way. Hagar was Sarah’s suggestion. However, something I hadn’t seen before was that, at this point, God had not yet said that Sarah was part of the plan. It was after Ishmael was born that God made this clear to Abraham: “Sarah your wife shall bear you a son… I will establish My covenant with him.” Genesis 17:19
And you know what Abraham’s first reaction was when God said this…he laughed, knowing that Sarah was barren and as it says, way past her years of childbearing. And then he asked God if Ishmael could be the promised heir.
So, even though he messed up big time (and laughed), we see in Romans 4 that Abraham got his eyes back on God and His promise. He made a decision to trust God and His word and not waver, not consider the impossible circumstances and instead chose to give glory to God and fully trust Him…this was his turning point.
This is the place we need to get to…where we will believe God and His promises despite our circumstances.
We need to choose - will we walk His way or do it our way?
I am speaking to myself here too. This is a journey and, on this journey, the enemy will come along and try to knock you off your perch. He wants you so far away from trusting God…and he will often do this by attacking your mind. He will try to get you to doubt, to fear, and not to trust. He will whisper in your ear God’s not going to do that for you; you are different; what if God doesn’t come through; what if God isn’t real and on it goes…
So how do you get to this place of being fully persuaded, unwavering?
We need to know our Heavenly Father and the only way to do this is to be in His word and spend time with Him. As we soak ourselves in His word and His promises our mind will begin to be renewed…so that when you get bad news, you take it straight to Him. You don’t mull over it, you don’t worry and fret, you place it in His hands and then you get into His word and His promises.
I know I am being repetitive here, but this is how we need to walk. We need to get to a place where we are fully persuaded that our God is true and not a liar. Romans 3:4
Remember whatever you feed it will grow.
What are you feeding today? Unbelief, fear, worry, or faith, trust and an unwavering belief in God’s goodness.
2 Timothy 1:12 …for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to keep for that day the deposit I have entrusted to him.
Verses to stand on this week
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1
"Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for he is faithful that promised." Hebrews 10:23
"God is not a man, that he should lie... has he said, and shall he not do it?"
Numbers 23:19"Though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry."
Habakkuk 2:3"For all the promises of God in him are yes, and in him Amen."
2 Corinthians 1:20
SPEAK THIS ALOUD
I will not waver at the promises of God.
I choose to be fully persuaded that He is faithful.
I will not lean on my own strength, my own understanding or my own timing.
I fix my eyes on God, and not my circumstances, or my feelings
Though the answer may take time, I will wait for it - I have it, it is mine
I know that God is not a man that He should lie - what He has spoken, He will do.
And as the Word says, every promise of God’s is yes and amen.
Whatever I feed will grow - so today I feed faith, not fear.
I am fully persuaded that He is able to keep what I have entrusted to Him.

The God Who Never Fails
Seek First Worship
Behind the song: Most of my songs over the past year have come from standing on my healing. On walking this road of learning to trust my God, despite what I see - coming to a knowing that He will not fail me. His word stands strong, He walks with me, In every battle He will make a way…and so I will choose to trust Him.
This week's step
Name the promise you're standing on - write it down, specifically, in your own words. Then, every time doubt or frustration rises this week, don't argue with it in your head. Speak the promise out loud.
